The Big Picture

Bringing together all of the General’s big ideas, requires practical support and good structures.

WE CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THE QUALITY OF OUR WORK AND IMPROVE OUR GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES

Good governance and management procedures should primarily support frontline work, whilst ensuring we meet legal and financial accountability.

The THQ Management Board was introduced in 2022 as part of THQ restructuring. During 2024 we will implement phase 2 – the commissioning of a new Governance Board. This board will concentrate on strategic planning and reviewing our programmes to keep the ‘3 big ideas’ as our goals.

The Management Board will continue to hone our Administrative processes so that they support the work at grassroots level (fulfilling our mission) in the best way possible.

WE TAKE CARE OF OUR PROPERTY ASSETS

We are blessed with a substantial property portfolio which provides locations for our mission activities and generates income to support services. We will invest to keep properties in good and safe condition, reviewing our mission needs and ensuring properties ‘work’ for us.

WE VIEW OUR PERSONAL GIVING SACRIFICIALLY

As Salvationists, we want each corps and institution to be financially self-supporting. Biblical principles of tithing guide our personal giving. At all levels, we strive towards a sensible use of human and financial resources.

WE INCREASE OUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

We thank God for the generosity of our donors, who support our mission and fund specific projects. Our Communications and Fund-Raising teams will continue to increase the size and scope of our external support.

WE IMPROVE OUR COMMUNICATION BOTH WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE SALVATION ARMY

The communication channels at every level of our organisation should be quick, effective and as transparent as possible. Every Salvationist and employee can influence how people see us. The Communication and Marketing Department supports local efforts with professional methods.
